WEIR CONDEMNS BOMB DISRUPTION

“I utterly condemn the bomb alert in East Belfast which had implications for both local people and for those using the railway line between Bangor and Belfast. This disruption was caused by a pipe bomb device which led to a security alert. This criminal behaviour is completely wrong and irresponsible and should have no place in our society. While the biggest worries are to the threat to life and the need to evacuate residents, there are additional consequences and the closure for a time of the Bangor- Belfast railway line, and the commuters were disrupted.

Those responsible for the pipe bomb are to be utterly condemned and brought to justice. People have the right to live their life peacefully and without disruption, and this is totally unacceptable.

I urge anyone with any information on this crime to immediately bring it forward to the PSNI.”
